Anand / Haider Residence - 1963

Mr. and Mrs. Haider were not the original owners of the house, perhaps having bought it from the original client.  The ground floor nameplate still reads Anand.  The entire building seems to have been designed by them with the Haiders occupying only a section of it.

Mr. Haider was gracious enough to explain what was original.  Most of the original woodwork including door frames and built-in cupboards are original. The jaali in the balconies is of blue porcelain common to the times.  The floors are still largely the original terrazzo.

The house is compact and efficient with little room spared or unused.  The dining room and living room share a column which is in fact two fireplaces.  The entrance verandah is connected to the kitchen and dining rooms and includes a direct access to the master bedroom via a separate door which can be closed to restrict access.
